a seperate error was this:The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur in VolumeId: F:, DeviceName: \Device\HarddiskVolume7. Failure status: A device which does not exist was specified. Device GUID: {390d3b88-0b14-a800-2004-644fa477ceb8} &

Device\Harddisk0\D eventlog error

Hi guys,

A couple of my clients computers have been recording the following in their event log.

"Event ID - 51 - An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation"

Their computer symptoms vary from Windows crashing to BOS to not showing any symptoms at all, I've been looking about the web for solutions to this error and it seems to be VERY common but little information is known about it.

One thing I've noticed is it occurs on old and brand new PC's despite many forums saying "your HDD is old and it's about to fail back up everything". I've just install a brand spanking new PC for one client and it's showing up in their event log on a regular basis. The computer runs fine but every now and then they get a windows update and the BIOS looses sight of the HDD completely, it needs to be physically disconnected and connected again for the computer to boot again.

Any help or insight into the cause of this error would be greatly appreciated.

HDD controller error?

this afternoon my system got suddenly restart, and when i take a look at event viewer i found this

possibly from my board that err?

Hmm. Either it's put out errors and WCG is limiting the work units available, or the project list may not be set to supply other WU when one runs out. (if the problem lies here and not on your end)

On the options to your left, if you go into Results Status, select the computer from Device Name and then look through results see if either they were returned late, errors or any other kind of issue that would stop the servers supplying WU from that perspective.

If there are no errors then it's maybe down to your project list. So selecting Device Manager from the left menu and then clicking on the profile assigned to that computer and make sure that it's assigned to receive WU for other projects if they run out.

At least those steps will rule out problems from the WCG end.
