Hello to all,this driver just came up on my windows 11 22h2 HP laptop that has only AMD & RELTEK sound drivers I did some research and this is windows 10 PC. How do I delete this so I can get future updates? can I delete this and/ or how do I hide it from trying to install again?the last time a driver came up to install it was for windows 10 also and I have windows 11.what is the easiest way to get rid of this driver? by hiding it or delete it? and I was reading a lot of people installed this driver and it stopped the sound all together .thanks for your help

hi so what is this Sound Research Corp. - Extension - 15.85.13.5816 windows update offers me this every day and it fails to install, i have Realtek audio but my suspicions are maybe i need this as well, funny thing is this is not listed on my HP laptop support page. but maybe this is the very reason why i don't have any way to change sample and bit depth in my audio area. maybe because i need this , windows is calling it a extension.

 

Sound doesn't work - but driver won't reinstall

I understand your concern, I would suggest you to go to the device manager and check if the sound drivers are installed. If installed please update the drivers and check.

Step 1:

• 
  Press Windows key + X.
  
• 
  Click on Device Manager, expand “sound, video and game controllers”
  and check if any sound drivers are installed.
  
• 
  If yes, right click on the driver and hit update.
  

Or else go the manufacturer website and install the latest driver.

Step 2: Also run hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.
  
• 
  Click on Troubleshooting tab.
  
• 
  Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
  
• 
  Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
