Windows 10: What Joysticks are XInput compatible to work in Windows 10 compatible games ?? , such as MX...

I am currently using a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 Joystick , I mainly use it for motorcycle games such as MXGP 2021 , MXGP3 , MX vs ATV Unleashed , and I want to get more of these games like , Monster Energy Supercross 6 , etc. , however most of these games require X Input I'm guessing to be compatible with Xbox Controllers , but I hate using Controllers , especially for PC games , I do have a Xbox controller that I have used on my PC , but as mentioned , I can't stand using controllers , especially for a PC game , PC games should be Keyboard , Mouse , and Joystick ONLY , I hate t

Old joystick compatible?

Well a lot of old joysticks are USB/analog. Some newer games need USB/digital sticks or controllers. For example, here are the choices for Doom II (1995)...

And here are the choices for 4x4 Evolution (racing game) (2000)...

Or the original ZELDA (1986)...

And Divine Divinity (2002) doesn't accept a joystick at all...

Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator games worked with my joystick, with a LOT of keyboard controls needed as well. It would help to know which game you're considering.

 

How does Windows' 'Game Controllers' properties connect to a joystick?

The situation:
We need to use a new game controller (with a joystick only) hardware on Windows 10 IoT. In the properties of "Game Controllers", moving the joystick is visible in the displayed rectangle with the '+'. Our software using DirectX8 API only reads 0 values for x/y axes.

What I've tried so far:

• DirectX8 obviously doesn't work, also, it's deprecated
  
• Using Gaming.Input: not an option, we have no UWP
  
• XInput: not an option, we have no XBox (compatible) device
  
• Using joyGetPosEx from MultiMediaSystem: doesn't work
  

The question:
Obviously Windows somehow can "see" the controller and also recognizes the joystick movements; so what API do they use in this little "Game Controllers" window?

Any other suggestion on how to read joystick data?

Well mostly thinking of MS Flight Simulator X. It contains a gameport to USB converter actually, so it should be working with USB I hope but people say these converters are not totally reliable. Maybe it is more reliable coming from the manufacturer itself? - - - Updated - - -

So there is a difference in digital and analog as well? Won't USB connection cater to that problem?
