    What kind of malware can from a disappearing email?


    Hello. I was working on my new laptop, which has a touch pad I'm not used to using. I meant to delete an email in my inbox, but accidentally clicked on the title for it. It looked as if it came from a person, not a business. It was not a link inside a message. No messsage appeared at all. It literally disappeared within a second. Unfortunately, in spite of common sense, I looked for it in the trash and spam folders. It was in neither. My questions are: What kind of malware? Does resetting my laptop to factory get rid of it? I shut down and reset after I checked the folders for it.Did I shut

    Understood, OldMike. I will keep your suggestion in mind. I always appreciate suggestions from those who know more than I do. I think the Malware did do more than one scan, because I had to approve removal of what it found twice. I don't see Windows Defender on the list of programs. I think it was on there before they redid the software. Pluto TV also disappeared.

    Provide us additional information to assist you better with this issue:



    1. Which email client are you referring to?
    2. Are you referring to notification which occurs on action center?


    This behavior occurs because there may be a rule that is moving incoming messages to another folder in the Folder list or mailbox. If you are using Outlook and you are receiving the E-mail notification in the system tray,
    then I would suggest you to refer this article
    for more information about this issue.

    You may also try the below suggested step clean the current views to check the emails again. To do so,



    1. Press Windows + R key. Type in “outlook.exe /cleanviews” and press
      Enter.
    2. This will restore default views and the custom views you had will be lost.
