Windows 10: What makes a particular Windows 10 Home Edition avoid seeing a WiFi networks?

What makes a particular Windows 10 Home Edition avoid seeing a WiFi networks? Tried using NetSetMan but no to no avail.Tried using a USB Hotspot plugged to the same device. The WiFi was found but with a very weak signal.

Network & Internet WIFI in Windows 10 Home edition...

The Hotspot is connected via USB. It is a USB device ONLY.





As you can see, there is no WIFI option in the list.

I wonder if there is any "service" that nees to be activated for this to work?

 

New Wifi default to metered

Yes, it is a Registry entry. See the procedure in my post #74 in another TenForums thread. {in case it is of interest, my post #73 in that thread lists the steps I take to avoid all automatic Windows updates}

By making that change, every new WiFi network will, by default, be set as metered. You will still be able to change that back to non-metered for a specific WiFi network in the normal manner.

Unable to see a specific WiFi Network in list

I have Windows 8.1. I can see the WiFi networks of everyone in the vicinity. However, am unable to see the WiFi network installed in my home.

The WiFi Network that am unable to see is a new connection. This new connection is seen by all devices (Mobiles etc) but it is.not getting displayed in my Windows 8.1 list.

I have seen other threads on the issue which recommend checking WLAN Autoconfig etc. And have tried those steps too. But there is no change in the outcome.

Can anyone please suggest any solution that migjt work. I am not willing to format my Laptop.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.
