Windows 10: What port do i use for my "old" deskjet printer in WIN 10

Unable to print - I have HP deskjet 940c connected to a desktop computer. Recently saw all these devices listed in Control Panel with the default 940c - XPS Document Printer - Send to OneNote (I do not use OneNote) I thought I had always used LPT port but see on forums I am supposed to use USB001? I GET BLINKING RED LIGHT even though ink level OK The other day same problem and when deleted the Send to One Note printer I was able to print (coincidence?) but stopped again.

I at least want to make sure I am connected to the right port. When I troubleshoot everything says "Issue not detected" Driver is up to date HP forum was of no use. Do Microsoft updates affect my devices?

Computer has been acting up this week - problems with getting email (fixed)

I suggest you to run Printer troubleshooter. Follow the steps.

• Type Troubleshooter in the search box and then press enter.
• In the left pane click on View all.
  
• Select the Printer option and follow the on screen instructions.

Ink Level On deskjet 3520

• HP Deskjet 3520 Inkjet Printer I can not view the ink levels on the Printer. I could on my Old XP, but not in windows 10

 

HP Printer Deskjet 1055 Port compatibility issue

I have a deskjet HP 1055 Scan and printer and it says the port for the USB is not compatible. My laptop is a HP Latitude e7450. It says that port 3.0 is not compatible use port 2.0 - Can you help to clarify? is the USB cord not the right version.
