Windows 10: What reliability improvements will Windows 10 Redstone 5 have? (July 28, 2018)

I'm glad the cumulative updates for Windows 10 build 17134 installed on my Dell Inspiron 7558 this month have solved much of the freezing and crashing of apps, programs, and even the Windows Explorer I just kept having last month. Some issues I've had for months are still present. Come October of 2018, I'll install the next public build of Windows 10 as soon as possible. Reliability improvements to Windows are more important than ever in this day and age!

I hope to see reliability improvements to the Mail app in Windows 10 Redstone 5 due late October of 2018. It has plenty of room for improvement, not to mention new features such as support for iCloud, AOL and Zoho two-factor authentication and further
improved HTML rendering.

 

Should the laptops at a physical Staples store have Windows 10 Redstone 5 installed on them by December 31, 2018? (July 19, 2018)

Redstone 5 will be finalized by September or October 2018. In some cases, you might get it pre-installed with Windows 10 1809.

But to be honest, even if it came with Windows 10 1507, updating it to the most recent version would be easy as check Windows Update and just give it a day to get the latest updates.

Unless you bought it customized from the manufacturers website, you are likely to be a couple versions behind. But the great thing about Windows 10, new versions are free, so you can just automatically upgrade.
