  1. what right do you have to restart my computer?

dear microsoft, every now and then, you restart my computer without my permission. i have a ton of unsaved documents open, and PDF's and other files... when you restart my computer without my permission, is there a reason you don't leave it exactly how you found it? i own my computer.. not you. i haven't given you the right to close all my documents. seriously. this is expensive. anyhow, would you please put my computer exactly how you found it, if you decide to pretend it's yours and overwrite my right to control my device? maybe you can come into my home and do my dishes too, without

    :)

  2. Computer crashes and restarts periodically

    Hello Kurt,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I will be glad to help you with the issue you have with the computer. I understand the frustration when things don't work the way it should.

What is the make and model of your computer?

What is the anti-virus program on the computer?

I suggest you to try the following steps:

Uninstall and Reinstall the Graphics Card Drivers.

Step 1: Uninstall the Graphics Card
    Drivers

    • Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

    • Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

    • Search for the Graphics Card
from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers
      from the computer.

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.
After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:

Step 2: Go to the Computer or Graphics Card
manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the
Graphics Card model and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.

I hope this helps you. If you have any further query in future, feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help you.

    Thank you

    Inexplicable restarts

Thanks for your patient help and analysis, zbook. I'll step through some of your suggestions over the next few days - there's a lot to do and some look a bit hairy! That is, for a PC that is working sweetly right now...

Meanwhile, as requested in the BSOD thread (sorry, I misunderstood and posted there by mistake), I've attached both ZIP files.
    --------------------
One step I did try right away was to answer your question about whether my BIOS is up-to-date. I had no success at the AMI site but did get some info from this commercial site:

It was one of the '9' (I counted 10) listed here:

  4. what right do you have to restart my computer?

Administrator rights blocked on Windows 10 computer.

    Hi Joy,

The installation of the said programs may have affected some system files. We suggest running System File Checker (SFC) tool, to resolve this issue. SFC will repair and replace any corrupted or missing system files. Follow the steps below to do so:

    • Right-click on Start menu button and select
      Command Prompt.
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • Wait for the scan to finish and restart your computer.

Let us know if you find this helpful.
