Windows 10: What should I do if my monitor stays black when I turn my pc on, but when I plug smth else...

When I turn on my device, my monitor's screen remains black, thing that does not happen when I plug a ps4. When this problem first started, I was playing some games with some mates, when all of a sudden my pc stops showing anything. Then, I could hear a "glitchy" sound coming out of my headset, as if it was stuck.This happened a second time, but while I was using Google I cannot say anything about the sound, because my headset wasn't plugged onAnything I could/should do? Thanks

Monitor screen turned black and has stayed black for about 30 minutes

I did exactly as you said--EXACTLY!!! I uninstalled the driver as you said to. I deleted the driver for "this device"--exactly as you said to...!!!

My monitor screen turned black and has stayed black for about 30 minutes now as I write this (from my laptop).

I even tried to boot off the DVD I made from the Win 10 ISO file but it wouldn't boot off of it.

What do l do now????????!!!!!!!!!

I would appreciate, if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better?

What is the make and model of your system?

I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall Graphic card drivers and check.

Uninstall and re-install the Graphic card device driver

a) Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.

b) Click on “Device Manager” from that list.

c) Go to Display adaptor and expand it and you would see the Graphics Card device, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”.

d) On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove the corrupted drivers from the computer.

e) Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and the restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, go to the Device Manager again by following the steps mentioned above and then click on the “Scan for hardware changes” button. Check if Windows detects the Graphics Card device and installs an appropriate driver automatically.

If it doesn’t install the driver, I would suggest you to go to the manufacture website and install the latest graphic card drivers.

SurfacePro 2 screen turns black w/external Monitor

We have a Surface Pro 2 that's only a few months old, and the screen on the laptop turns black when plugging in an external monitor. When you unplug the monitor the screen stays black and you have to do a hard reset to get it back. It was working fine
until recently. We've checked for updates and tried different monitors.

 

Monitors sometimes stay black when turned off and on

I keep my PC on 24/7, and at night I turn my monitors off by pressing the button on the bottom of their frame. I have two monitors, which have a 59 hz and 60 hz refresh rate, and different resolutions.

I have had these monitors for over a year or two, and no problem, but sorta recently, past few months, whenever I turn my monitors off at night and turn them back on at day, they do the loading screen and then they just stay black.

Sometimes when exiting by browsers (I kind of just assume the browser X button is top right and usually get lucky), and then turning off and on the monitors they will work. I sometimes move programs/browsers from one monitor to the other to get things working.

I can always restart my PC to get my monitors working again, but that's annoying, a hassle, and I shouldn't have to do that anyways to get my monitors working.

Also, the "fixes" I do above might not work as well, which is concerning.

On a fresh restart, the monitors turn off and on fine, although when I get either chrome or firefox up, or perhaps another program that is somewhat intensive on my PC, the monitors sometimes fail to turn on if turned off.

Could this be a windows update that started this?
