Windows 10: What to do about Windows 10 "**** Mode" for Bluetooth Audio?

I used to have tdk a33 and it worked perfectly with android devices, however, in windows 10 it had two modes:

one was named "tdk a33 (stereo)" in the "select playback devices" menu. The other one was a horrible sounding, what I'd assume is a mono option: it was totally flat, no bass and sounded like a phone call with bad reception... Although it was disappointing that there even was a mode like this, and that sometimes that mode would get selected automatically, at least i had an option to switch to the stereo mode in the playback devices menu...

However, my problem is that with my akg y50bt headphones, I only have this one horrible sounding option called "akg y50bt handsfree", in playback devices, there is no akg y50bt stereo option


Here's a suggestion for you windows gearheads, instead of making something **** and horrible a default, bury that **** deep in the settings, so you have to click around and watch tutorials on youtube for 30 minutes to enable it. Do not make it so that I have to work 25 minutes to enable the good option. This is insane.

(Also, with android your headphones stay connected. With windows 10, they disconnect because of some god awful useless power management thing I cannot disable in device manager / power management settings. So, due to bluetooth radio switching off my headphones power off when im in the middle of watching a video in windows 10. With android or win 8.1 i can watch hours straight without any problems with these headphones. With windows 10, they keep switching off every 10 minutes or so. Why is the **** option on by default? Why isn't the **** option buried somewhere deep within the settings, so that the 1 out of 4,000,000 people who want to have these power management settings enabled and wants to switch their headphones on every 10 minutes could choose that option in the settings.)

Bluetooth in windows 10

My computer specs are as listed in the profile. I think all of you guys are correct. I don't have built-in Bluetooth in mobo.

I contacted skull candy headphones and thy have told me if I do not have built-in Bluetooth, I would need a dongle which supports at least a2dp. I do not know what the heck that means. I have a feeling I would need more than a cheap dongle.

Anyone suggest some a2dp adapters. I searched but don't know what a2dp is so couldn't make a decision

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Do you get any error message?

I suggest to use a different Bluetooth speaker and check if the same issue persists. Also try using the current speaker with different computer running Windows 10 and check. As you are getting Crackles or warning sound it might be an issue with hardware.

Edit: This is a dongle with old BT version I see now, but I'm sure you can find a Asus BT4.0 version.

@aasim1111 I have this one, it doesn't show that it supports A2DP in the specs but I think it'll work, otherwise send a mail to Asus and ask.
