Windows 10: What to do when Microsoft sign in will not accept correct password

I recently experienced a power failure which resulted in shutting off my desktop p c computer. Once power was restored and the pc powered on, the Microsoft sign in page required just a password, which I provided. The problem is, it does not accept the correct Microsoft password and consequently will not open my computer. The Reset option requires some original setup password USB drive that means nothing to me. I have tried everything I know to unlock the screen, including rebooting in Safe Mode to no avail. We understand the difficulties you are facing while login to the PC using your Microsoft account.



In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check if you are able to sign with the correct login credential in Safe mode. Also check if you are connected the PC to the internet, preferably through Ethernet cable.

1. At the login screen click on the power symbol.
   
2. Hold SHIFT key in the keyboard and click Restart.
   
3. After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
   
4. Select advanced options under
   Troubleshoot screen.
   
5. Click on Startup Settings
   
6. Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to Safe Mode
   
7. Login with the correct password using the onscreen keyboard.

Sign in with a Microsoft account instead

I have a Local Account and want to, "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead". I go through all of the required steps including entering my Username and Password. Microsoft accepts everything, then ask me to enter my password one final time. I very carefully enter it exactly as I did before and Microsoft says its not correct. Any help wold be appreciated.
