    What to do when startup is slow then I get a loud sound


    Hi there:I have an 5-6 year old Acer PC with Windows 10. Today I tried turning on the computer and it was very slow to start up. It took a very long time to open up Word or anything else for that matter. After waiting a long while, I heard a loud, continuous screeching sound and I had to do a forced shutdown. What can I do now, and does this mean the PC is going to give up on me at one point soon? I am rather afraid to even turn it on now, but I need to back up my latest files in case of an imminent crash.Thanks in advance!

    Loud Static Through Speakers Problem

    Im Getting Loud Static Through Speakers When First Starting Up Before Windows Plays The Startup Sound, The Loud Static Stops After The Windows Startup Sound Plays. Seems Like Ive Had This Problem After Overclocking. Specs Are As Listed, Please Help.

    Hi Peck,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community, we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

    As per the previous posts I understand that you are referring to Startup sounds in Windows 10.

    If so, I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

    Make sure that your device speakers are working fine before performing the troubleshooting steps.


    • Right click on the Volume icon on the Task bar.

    • Select Sounds option from the list.

    • Select Sounds tab.

    • Check mark on Play Windows Startup sound option.

    • Under Program Events: click on any option and under Sounds: select Windows Startup from the list.

    • Click on Browser button and select a
      Sound      .

    • Try to restart the computer and check if it helps.

    What to do when startup is slow then I get a loud sound

    Does anybody know why I am having really slow system startups? I don't have extra startup programs than I use to have. The only thing that I think it could be is my antivirus program. I use AVG now since I reformated 2 days ago..and every since then, I have a really slow startup..I don't know if that is the reason..Does anybody have any suggestions, on how to speed my startup? I use to be able to be on my desktop screen in like 35-40 seconds at most. And now it is way over a minute. Any help would be gr8.
