3. PC Crashes to blackscreen and reboots | Kernel-Power Event 41 BugcheckCode 278 | VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)

    Hi,

As stated in the title my PC just randomly crashed into a "blackscreen" (Both monitors losing signal) followed by an automatic reboot.

This has probably happened once before but I wasn't in front of my PC when It happened the first time, I just found my PC had rebooted when I returned.

After browsing the web a bit I decided to check my Event log and found the "Kernel-Power Event 41" I also found out that this alone doesnt mean much

so I checked for a BugcheckCode and found 278, which I then looked up and has something to do with my GPU.

My BugcheckCode with Parameters in detail:

BugcheckCode278

BugcheckParameter10xffff8a06633e5010

BugcheckParameter20xfffff80331506350

BugcheckParameter30xffffffffc000009a

BugcheckParameter40x4

After that I read that, it is suggested to look into the WIndows dump files, so I did just that and found a "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)"

Unfortunately it seems something with reading the Memory.dmp file has gone wrong since I get countless missing Page errors in WinDbg.

So I don't know of how much use my Memory.dmp file is in this state, and I am not experienced enough to dig any deeper on my own.

Any help is very much appreciated!

    As a disclaimer:

I can say with high confidence that it was not a Heat problem since both GPU and CPU peaked at ~ 80°C, nothing out of the ordinary.

Also PSU should not be a problem either since it is a 850W PSU and neither my GPU nor my CPU are overclocked.

RAM was checked aswell and XMP is running fine at 3200 MHz, well within the possible range of Motherboard and CPU.

    Random hang and shutdown/restart: Event 41, Kernel-Power, BugcheckCode 278

What happened: My PC randomly hands and shutdowns/resets. It can happen at random, sometimes while I'm watching youtube, sometimes during gaming session, sometimes even in the BIOS settings.

    Event detail in Event Viewer:

No BSOD. Just hangs or hangs then restarts. Was working properly for 3 months until today. What changed was that I moved house and could have rattled my PC around while changing house. So I took out the thing and reassembled everything. Still have random
    hang.
