Windows 10: What to do?

So to start, yeah when I click the windows key to shutdown the laptop it's says that I need to update it I don't know the minutes it's says but its in there that it'll shutdown after so yeah I've waited for like half minutes and it's all black, so I thought that it was finished so I closed it, but when I turned it on the screen was all black and a cursor. Please I really need your help. My mom will be really upset if she knew this... I don't what type of window my laptop is
