Windows 10: what will happen to legacy bios if I convert mbr to gpt?

Hi, i am Raghav i had a query in my mind that if i converted my mbr partition to gpt partition then what will happen to:1.OS Windows 102.My apps3.My files4.BIOS legacy

After conversion check your Screen Resolution in Settings > System > Display if the WIndows icon is distorted.

GPT to MBR Failure

The opening post was not clear.

Are you attempting MBR > GPT or GPT to MBR?

MBR can be converted to GPT and GPT can be converted to MBR.

This can be performed with and without data loss.

If there are no data concerns then you can clean install.

During the clean install all partitions are deleted making an unallocated disk drive.

Windows then create the disk partitions based upon the BIOS settings.

Post images of the BIOS settings for:

Legacy

UEFI native (without CSM)

UEFI hybrid (with CSM)

How come you want to convert partitions?

What problems are you having?

What do you intend to accomplish with MBR that you cannot with GPT?

If there is no data at risk the partitions can be converted based on the chosen BIOS setting.

For example if you make a clean install Windows 10 or Windows 11 choosing BIOS Legacy creates partition MBR and choosing BIOS UEFI creates partition GPT.

GPT has advantages compared to MBR.

MBR is limited to 4 partitions whereas GPT can have approximately 128 partitions.

GPT has a benchmark faster boot.

GPT has higher levels of security.

For a supported Windows 11 the BIOS should be UEFI and the drive partition GPT.
