The scanner in use was still setup to use SMB 1 Years ago.
I know Win 10 has discontinued normal support for SMB 1 in favor of SMB 2 or 3.
I also know there is a place where the OLD setup to use SMB 1 can be added back if necessary.
    BUT:
If the system in question was on a network and that had a shared folder where files had been being scanned to for months. And nothing else changed on the Scanner in question which is a big Office multifunction system.
Yet Win 10 has gotten numerous updates during that time. When reading a scan report for an item i noticed that it says SMB and this triggered a memory about Windows no longer supporting that protocol. IT made me stop and think about what would occur IF.

We do SEEM to be missing several large scanned in reports for the month of August. I posted elsewhere about this as I am still chasing this down., But, i also can't find any definite info on what happens in a case like this where the Office Scanner/Printer has Always used what it says is "SMB" to communicate with the storage system which Does run on Windows 10. I am on the way now to check to see if the support for Old SMB1 option is checked already or not.
But if "not" - Yet the scanner reports it is still connected to the shared folder where it stores scanned files.
...IF it is sending data using SMB 1 not 2 or 3. What is most likely to occur?

If anybody knows for sure or even a good guess I would love to hear it.

    :)
