Windows 10: Whatever update installed today keeps bricking my computer.

I restarted today 3/14/24 to install a Cumulative Update for Windows 11 that it said was ready to install. After a supposedly successful restart, no programs or Windows functions would run. I could open the system tray, but nothing would launch and several icons were missing, including Radeon Software. I could open the Start Menu and click on stuff but nothing would open. I tried a System Restore, but it failed on 2 different restore points. I tried SFC /scannow and it said it fixed some corrupted files but that didn't solve the issue. I cannot even shut down, restart, or open task manager. I

Are todays computers safer to update BIOS?

I was servicing a new Dell Win10 computer the other day and in the new notification list it was recommended to update the BIOS with a link to do so. I would have done so but over the years I've seen complaints about BIOS update problems sometimes even bricking a computer. Are todays computers safer to update BIOS? If the owner had a system image backup, would it be ok to do that BIOS update?
--- I sent the owner to Staples because that's where she bought the computer and it was under warranty.

• Which security software is installed in the computer?
• Do you remember making any specific change in the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to an update or multiple?

This could be due to several reasons and to diagnose the issue, I would suggest you to try the steps below and check;

Step 1: Remove any external devices connected to PC (except mouse and keyboard)

Step 2: Disable security software and check.

Important: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software,
you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Step 3: If you are referring to multiple updates, I would suggest you to try installing 4-5 updates at a time and then try restarting the computer.

Insurgency wont install and run for me....

I have played and have fully updated CS and Half life 2....
I am using the newest client and installed the SDK.

I am completely blown away, if i click the desktop icon it starts the sdk and then closes, and it doesn't show up in my game list...

First mod attempt install here, followed the directions step by step on the mods website...

Any ideas?
