  1. What's a good site to help with Win7 to Win10 transition?

I see so many what appears to be totally illogical changes in Win10 so I'm wondering if there are workarounds for most of them. There probably are. Is there a website that is particularly good at guiding a new user? Like the Start Menu used to have a Properties option in Win7. Can't find it anywhere in Win10. The Start Menu used to be reasonably efficient. Now each icon is enormous with no apparent way of reducing their size. Each should be a slim line. Alt_Tab in Win7 used to make sense. Now each icon is enormous so you can't navigate through many open programs because they don't fit

    :)

homegroup win10 not recognize printer & scanner on win7 computer

Thank you so much for the quick response to my problem.

my devices I am trying to access on the win7 computer are:

    Printer: Stylus Photo R200

    Scanner: Perfection 4180

I had these originally on my computer B4 win10 install. After the install they did not work. That is why I connected to my other win7 computer. The win7 is within my Homegroup and when I access thru win10 I get access to docs, picts, videos, etc but not
the above devices. Reversing this, accessing my win10 computer from the win7, I get the icon my Epson Workforce 310 printer which I set up on the win7 computer for printing as well as the above devices.

Went to Epson website on the win7 comp & found the recommended driver for win7. Did the same on the win10 comp to find drivers for win10. (Did not update these drivers yet.) Apparently they have 2 different drivers dependent on WIN version. Both drivers
    are up to date.

Is it possible the drivers are not compatible and this accounts for these devices not showing up on the win10 machine? Don't know if win10 driver will work on win7. I may try to set these up on win10 machine. If work can upgrade win7 to win10.

I tried steps 1 & 2. Step 3, I know I have devices set to show on the network.

    Any other suggestions/comments??

  3. Need to Keep Win7 OS "as is" while evaluating Win10 UPGRADE

I followed the Win 10 Upgrade procedure (from my OEM Win 7 Home Premium) with success on July 29 (although my Audio was soon lost in all scenarios). I made great efforts to explore and familiarize myself with the new OS (Win 10). What I discovered was
that the learning curve was substantial (from my Win7 roots), and I cannot afford what amounts to a great loss in productivity compared to my productivity while using Win7. I opted to revert (Recover) to my pre-Win10 Upgrade Win7 OS.

I am strongly in favor of eventually TRANSITIONING to Win10, but ONLY once I have had a chance to familiarize myself with the Win10 OS sufficiently to transition to the new OS without having a severe negative impact on my productivity.

My Preference: Keep my Win7 OS "as is", and use the Win10 Upgrade in a Dual Boot configuration as a Learning base until I can confidently transition from my existing WIN7 OS.

In that regard - can I run the WIN10 Upgrade again ... then use the Media Creation Tool to "clean install" the WIN10 Upgrade in a new boot partition ... then Recover my WIN7 on it's original partition (with everything intact)? That way I can use my WIN7
and all existing programs and data that I am currently using with my primary Win7 boot, AND using my WIN10 "training boot" to add and evaluate my critical programs to my new WIN10 boot, one by one, before eventually fully transitioning to Win10 OS?

In short: I MUST keep Win7 until I am familiar with WIN10 (and I am CONFIDENT that I won't take a significant Productivity Hit). I simply can't afford to lose productivity while trying to learn and quickly navigate the VERY Significant changes that WIN10
    will entail.

PLEASE ... Detail precisely for me how I can keep my existing Win7 configuration while permitting me to evaluate and transition to the WIN10 OS.

What's a good site to help with Win7 to Win10 transition?

Upgrade to Win10 from Win7 desktop, windows update

I did the upgrade from Win7 to Win10 last week. It seemed to go fine but I have no desktop icons, no apps listed on the Start Menu, All Apps option, and Windows Update has been stuck at 2% downloading an update. I've run sfc /scannow and DISM through
advanced command prompt with no change in behavior. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
