Hi! I just did a system restore to a 3 weeks old point I created before testing some things on registry editor and eventually the system Windows 10 64bit became a messy thing and I broke some windows features, so I rollback to that restore point, however, even tho the system restore window warns you about which program/driver will be afected after the restoration, there are some apps/programs that get affected as well, making them unable to open not only their launcher.exe but also their uninstaller.exe, some examples in my case are Opera GX, Discord and TranslucentTB from Microsoft Store.I

  2. What's causing some programs like Discord, Opera or Microsoft store apps to not work at all after a system restore?

Hi! I just did a system restore to a 3 weeks old point I created before testing some things on registry editor and eventually the system (Windows 10 64bit) became a messy thing and I broke some windows features, so I rollback to that restore point, however, even tho the system restore window warns you about which program/driver will be afected after the restoration, there are some apps/programs that get affected as well, making them unable to open not only their launcher.exe but also their uninstaller.exe, some examples in my case are Opera GX, Discord and TranslucentTB from Microsoft Store.

I don't have any issues with this yet because I'd simply run the installer of each program again and they behave like normal, maybe because there was some system file or driver that got modified during the restoration and this programs used it/them to work properly, so by running their installer.exe it updates the program to the latest version and also install any needed file/driver/program.

But my question comes from this lack of knowledge, why is this happening? Why a non-Microsoft Store app would have issues when doing a system restore? I'm very curious to know why there's a system file/driver that an external app needs in order to work properly.

Also, to clarify a bit, I did absolutely nothing about this programs nor installed something that may intefere with this programs at all during this 3 weeks, and if they worked properly back then and they worked today just fine, then why a system restore makes the completely unable to open? as well as their respective uninstaller, that's why I'm very curious and asking here, It may be due to the program being updated to catch up with the updated system as well but you can run older versions of programs in newer versions of windows 10 that needs deeper permissions and hardware management like ICUE 4 or ICUE 5 (the program from Corsair responsible for controling your pc fans or led lights from Corsair rgb products) and they work perfectly fine without any issue.

I'd love any responses about this topic because I'm genuinely very interested in.

PS: I hope I've explained myself well and you understand what I typed, english is not my native language and I tried my best to explain this concern.
