Windows 10: What's the difference between Fresh Start and resetting your PC but keeping your files?...

So my PC is suffering from serious performance issues and I need to reset it but I want to keep my files; which one should I do? Reset and keep my files or Fresh Start instead?

Hello. This support page looks like you access fresh start through Windows Defender. It sounds similar to a reset keeping files. It is certainly worth a try if it sounds like what you want but agree with comments here that some data may disappear and important
info should be backed up.

hey so i want to reset my pc like brand new but keeping my windows if i do reset this pc and do just remove my files does it automatically keep my windows or it will reinstalled the windows automaticly or i do it manually i kinda confused how this work.
or should i do fresh start fetaure on windows 10 creators update. hope you guys can help me. regards,michael

Refreshing your PC or resetting your PC is also that same that they allow you to choose what happens to your personal files. The reset this PC has three options that allow you too either: "Keep my files", "Remove everything" or "Restore factory settings".
Choosing one of the three options will do the following:

Method 1: "Keep my files"

• Reinstalls Windows 10 and keeps your personal files.
• Removes apps and drivers you installed.
• Removes changes you made to settings.
• Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)

Method 2: "Remove everything"

• Reinstalls Windows 10 and removes all your personal files.
• Removes apps and drivers you installed.
• Removes changes you made to settings.
• Removes any apps your PC manufacturer installed. (If your PC came with Windows 10, apps from your PC manufacturer will be reinstalled.)

Method 3: "Restore factory settings"

• Reinstalls the version of Windows that your PC came with (either Windows 8 or Windows 8.1) and removes your personal files.
• Removes apps and drivers you installed.
• Removes changes you made to settings.
• Reinstalls any apps your PC manufacturer installed on your PC.
