[This question has been answered. Thanks to Carlo. Please Answer 1 more question that is below]My E drive Not a system drive is showing 4.61GB size. But, it's showing 4.62GB size on disk. What's the difference between these? Actually in another drive the difference is 3GB instead of 0.01 GB.

    :)

Partition size and total disk space don't match

Even though the partition size for Disk 0 is 953.87 GB, the total capacity shows up as 793 GB in the list of properties. There isn't any unallocated space, and Drive E (Disk 1's second partition) has a capacity equal to the partition's size. How would I
make the shown capacity equal to the partition size?

  3. Reduce disk size (Inspect SCSI )

Hi, I'm David an independent advisor and user just like you. I'll do my best to help you with this.

The answer is you have to reduce the size on BOTH sides.

Step 1) Within you virtual machine you need to go to Disk Management and reduce the size of the partition(s) on the drive you want to reduce - you want to end up with space left at the "end" of the virtual disk. This is the space you'll be able to recover.

Step 2) From your Hyper-V host you need to edit the virtual disk and use the Shrink option to reduce the size of the physical disk (as far as your VM is concerned it's a physical disk), and that would reduce the size of your virtual disk file on the host.

If you are increasing the size of the virtual disk then you do it the other way round - increase the size of the virtual disk on Hyper-V, then go to Disk Management inside your virtual machine and you'll find there's more space available to expand your virtual
    volume.

    Regards,

    David

How To Make Exact Size Partitions

    Hi,

You have made the right calculation regarding the 200 GB partition size but as the allocation unit size takes the remaining space, the Windows explorer shows the 199.99GB in windows file explorer. But if you see in the Disk Management it shows the
size which you wanted to create which is 200 GB.

Hence after you have created the partition I suggest you to check in the Disk Management whether the right size has been specified.

Hope the information helps. Do reply if you need further assistance.
