Windows 10: What's the name of the new split screen I see on power-up? Windows 10

I was given to understand that the Spotlight screen a.k.a. Lock screen? is the name given to the first screen that appears when we power up. Currently mine is the photo taken from inside a cave looking out.


For the last week or so, I've been seeing that screen but it's quickly replaced by a new split screen. I've not been able to take a snip so I'll have to describe it.


The new screen is always split into two screens, with roughly 60% on the left and 40% on the right.


There are a minimum of two photos showing each taking up the full 60% or 40% and as far as I can see a maximum of seven photos.


The day, date & time appear in the bottom left corner and superimposed are any calendar reminders and the number of new emails & Skype messages.

I think the way that images are displayed is brilliant but what's the name of this new screen?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Split screen

When I go to a split screen view in Windows 10, one of the screens will stop working and/or not respond. For example, if I have a video playing and split screens, the video will stop running but the sound will continue. Another example is that I will
try to use a newly opened screen in split view and the page will not respond. Any suggestions or help?
