Windows 10: Whatsapp desktop on W10 stopped playing audio messages

It started happening a week ago or so, the play button works, the timeline start moving forward but there is no audio. I can still play them normally in my phone.There are no notifications either, the selected notifications tone doesn't play.Reinstalling the app didn't help.Also, the session closes itself every few day, I have to constantly re bind the device.

Have been through all the "how to" help and can't find a microphone to turn on for Whatsapp.

Ok, let's try another approach.
This is a new ASUS laptop and I am new to W10.

It is not just Whatsapp; I cant get the microphone to work on other apps either.
I've been through all the steps with privacy, camera, connecting apps and I guess a few others.
There must be some simple enable step I'm missing.

Well, persistence does pay off. I followed some instructions to check for needed driver updates with My Asus and yes, there were newer versions for audio and camera.
I installed them and all is well.
Funny thing is checking in Device Manager I was told I had the latest of everything.
So I learned something new this evening.

You should be able to send and receive audio files on Whatsapp, so I would suggest to contact the app's developer for further assistance with this issue, also for information on whether you can send Whatsapp messages by email.

On windows phone 8 whatsapp is not playing audio messages, on my old android phone it did play them, How can I play them, is there a way to send them via email so i can play on my ipad as there is no whatsapp app for ipad?
