Windows 10: Whatsapp for Windows PC problem on Tablet

I have an Asus T100 running windows 10.

It is a laptop/tablet which can be used without the keyboard, but runs Windows 10 not RT.

I have downloaded and installed Whatsapp for Windows PC on it and have an issue.


In a message if I have an insert such as a photo or screen grab if I expand it I can scroll up and down using the touchpad if the keyboard is attached.

However if the keyboard is not attached, swiping the screen does not move the expanded view up or down, nor left to right, and the pinch to expand or shrink does not work either.


This issue is only evident in whatsapp when viewing expanded images etc contained in messages, the touchscreen works as expected in whatsapp when scrolling contacts, typing messages etc, as well as in all other programmes.


Can anyone confirm if this is common to all windows tablets running whatsapp for PC, or is it maybe only on the ASUS T100

Whatsapp on Laptop/Tablet

From their website Whatsapp say it is for Windows 8 onward, and the Tablet/PC I am considering has Win 10 installed - so that's OK.

However, all references to the desktop version of Whatspp refer to a PC - nowhere can I find reference to a Win 10 Tablet or Tablet/PC.
I was hoping someone may have already tried it and been able to confirm success (or otherwise).

I guess I'll have to try and contact the potential supplier.

I am thinking of buying a Win10 Tablet/PC (similar to the Surface Pro)
I have no experience of these and don't know anyone who has one.
Does anyone know if it is possible to install the Whatsapp Desktop programme on these types of device - I have it installed on my conventional Win 10 Laptop.

 

windows 7 tablet edition?

There is no "tablet" edition of windows 7 (all versions of windows 7 except possibly basic have the same functionality when it comes to tablets)- if it detects you have a tablet pc it changes a few settings (icon sizes) and installs a couple of extra applications which can be used with wacom/touchscreen style setups.

You can install windows 7 from USB with no problems, but I am not familiar enough with the steps required to do it.
