Could you please tell me what drivers Windows Update has installed by looking at the history of installed updates.
Drivers from Windows Update and other sources might conflict with each other, if this would be the case then either Windows Update needs to have a setting change or the other sources don't need to be used.

    Elan driver update
Advanced micro devices, inc. Driver update for radeon hd 7520
Elan driver update for elan input device
    Advanced micro again

That's the only drivers listed. No other info is given about them.

As I said, install the drivers from 1 source to start with. I recommend to install from your laptop manufacturer.

I think we are having some breach of communication here.

i have WINDOWS 10 on my laptop
the only drivers available from the mfg website are WINDOWS 8 ( as in not for windows ten)
am i supposed to install old drivers that aren't even for my operating system then? Because windows ten drivers are NOT available from the mfg website.

It is for everyone different, but there are some people who are having problems with Windows 10 drivers and need to revert back to older drivers for normal functioning.
This is why I suggest to install the drivers from your manufacturer, there is no breach of communication *Wink

    Ok sorry.
So it is safe then to revert back to those drivers provided by the mfg.
I will do so when I can at the moment my internet is down. (posting from my phone)
so I will be back here when I can probably tomorrow.

So just to make sure i do this all rite, the procedure is as follows and correct me if im wrong.
    1. download drivers onto my desktop
    2. right click and install them.
    3 restart computer.

If i missed a step please do let me know. I don't have to uninstall the old drivers first do i?
