  1. When are windows events 6006 and 6005 logged

    Hi Team,I want to know in what all cases Windows events 6006 and 6005 are logged, do you have any documents stating these events?We have a program where we are using Windows events 6006 and 6005 to calculate reboot duration of a windows machine, by subtracting their time. First we check if 6006 is logged and get its next 6005 event time creation, getting the difference of these for reboot duration. But somehow, we are seeing very high durationin days returned by this program. So need to know more about these events logging.

    :)

    EventID 6006 ("The Event log service was stopped") ended 10 days ago..

    When checking the eventviewer->Windows Log->System and filtering 6006, the last entry was over 10 days ago.

    Anyone out there having a clue why?

    Thanks

    Disable log-off while account is locked.

    Suggest checking for event id 6005 or 6006 in the appropriate time periods. If you got that, your PC restarted.

    Log off: might be 4647 (user initiated); 4634 (An account was logged off); 538: (User Logoff)
    When you've confirmed it wasn't a restart, note these- assuming you find them.

    Have a look at the times at which the event occurred - is there any consistency?

    Could it be some scheduled task? An auto shutdown type of program?

    When are windows events 6006 and 6005 logged

    Windows 10 PC's over heating

    It's a bit easier than that. Open Event Viewer, Administrative events, sort by event id, and look for 6005.
    6005 = startup
    6006 = shutdown.
