When can we expect the ability to move the taskbar to return to Windows? This is a major issue for usability and I cannot understand the decision, but I am certain it will be reversed. When do we expect that do be?

    Taskbar not working as expected

    Hello everyone.

I recently changed the Owner of my C:\ drive (properties/security/advanced) from TrustedInstaller to my account and gave my account full access (to subdirectories aswell).

Since then, the taskbar doesn't work as expected:

    • Left click on start button doesn't work, right click does,
    • Windows key won't display the menu (shorcuts work e.g. Windows+R),
    • Right click on applications pinned to the taskbar doesn't work, left click does,
    • Left click on date doesn't display the calendar anymore,
    • Left click on notifications doesn't display the notifications center anymore.
I tried the "sfc /scannow" thing but it says some files can't be repaired. And in the log I have a lot of errors like this "Error - Overlap: Duplicate ownership for directory".

I tried aswell the powershell commands we find everywhere about taskbar problems (Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers....).

    I also tried this: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Is there any way to fix this without having to reset Windows ?

    Thanks.

  3. Windows 10 Taskbar sometimes on top of full-screen applications

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to change the Screen Resolution and check if this helps. Follow the steps below to do the same:

    • Press ‘Windows ’ key on the keyboard.
    • In the search box, type Settings
    • SelectSystem > Display > Advanced display settings.
    • Under Resolution, select a new value. We suggest you stick with the resolution marked
      "(Recommended)”.
Also try locking and then unlocking the Taskbar and check if this helps. Follow the steps below:

    • Right-click an empty space on the taskbar.
    • If Lock the Taskbar has a check mark next to it, the taskbar is locked.
    • If it does not have a check mark, click Lock the Taskbar.
Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.
