I cannot log into my new computer, I provided a school email address when purchased the new laptop but logged on to new laptop with different Ms account. Now I'm locked out of new laptop

New laptop can't log in

I bought a new laptop and wiped everything from the old one. When I was setting my new one I skipped logging in Microsoft account. Later, when I was asked to log in to my account I've just typed the old password but it didn't worked. Then with phone help
I've changed password but it still said that it is the wrong password. I can log in to my account on phone using the same email and password and it's working, but not on a laptop. Any suggestions?

We understand how difficult it could be and we appreciate the time and effort that you have taken to work this issue. However, in order to get clarity, we would need some more information regarding the issue.

1. Were you using the “Old email (account) address” regardless of not using laptop?
   
2. Are both the email addresses linked?
   
3. Could you please let us know, where exactly you get prompt for the password for the “Old email address” in the desktop?
   
4. What is the exact error message you get when you try to log in to laptop?
   
5. Does your desktop has two user profiles?
   

In the meantime, we would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below and check.



You would need to have internet connection in laptop, so that the password change could get updated and it seems that the laptop is not connected to the internet, we would suggest you to connect Ethernet cable to laptop and then
try logging in to the laptop with the new password for the old email address.

New Laptop doesn't allow school email use

I purchased a new laptop and had recently reset my old one.

Old Laptop:

Was win7. Updated it to win10 some time ago.

Previously used my personal gmail account during set up.

Upon reset, it offered me the choice of using my school's account. I decided to do that before I purchased the new computer.

Great.

New Laptop:

It would let me use my gmail account, but would not accept any password options I put in.

It would not let me use my Office 365 account through my school. That was never made available.

In the end, I used my gmail account, but was unable to put in any password. Because the one I was sure I had used previous was apparently incorrect.

A. Is there a way to change New Laptop over to using my school's email?

B. Is there a way to recover or reset the password from the gmail account?

(though I think it is redundant that it uses that seeing as I don't use the Mail system, nor would my gmail emails be forwarded to the computer anyway. I tried it before, it didn't work.)
