Windows 10 And The DVD Player

Does Windows 10 have any options as far as being able to play DVD's? When I load the DVD, it sounds like it is about to play but nothing happens. I have a Sony Vaio computer. I have the latest updates for my drivers. I have tried downloading other 'DVD'
players for Windows 10(VLC, 5Kplayer, and a few others) but there is no response. Windows 10 DVD player that came with the download of Windows 10 does not do anything. I never had this problem with Windows 7. I really do not want to go back to Windows 7.

Any suggestions?

I did Method 1 followed by Method 2. In Method 2 & step 2, I uninstalled the DVD player app.

However, now the Windows store wants me to pay $14.99 for the Windows 10 version of the DVD player app.

HELP! .... I'm now without the Windows 10 DVD player app and I have no intention of paying $14.99 for something that I was told to delete by Microsoft Help.

Method 2.

I suggest you to uninstall/reinstall the DVD player app and check if this helps.

  Go to settings and click on System.
  
• 
  Click on App & features, locate for the DVD player app, click on it and uninstall it.
  

Note: You can install it back again from Windows store.

The DVD/CD ROM Drives in Device Manager does not list the Windows DVD player. How can I re-get this driver?

My laptop does not have a DVD player built in, so I plugged in an external DVD player via USB port into my docking station.

I received the Windows 10 DVD player after I upgraded this laptop from Windows 7 Pro. At first Windows Update had trouble installing the KB3081704 that gives Windows 10 upgrade users this DVD player driver. After I found KB3081704 on ms-vnext.net/UpdateArchive
and installed it manually, the rest of Windows Updates finished installing and I was able to use Windows DVD player. Yay.

Then, I bought a different DVD player that came preloaded with Power2Go and Power DVD. I unplugged the first DVD player from the docking USB port and then plugged in the new DVD player and installed both of these software.

Now I am getting the same error message discussed in this forum when trying to use Windows DVD, Playback Error 0x8004027d. The driver you suggest updating does not exist in my Device Driver.

The PowerDVD player works fine. It is the only driver that shows up in the Device Manger under DVD/CD ROM Drives. I'd also like to have the option of using Windows DVD player. What can I do to make Windows DVD player work again?
