Windows 10: When i check list of microphones, the headphones is not listed.

I have connected my earphones with inbuilt mic into my laptop. But its keeps using the laptop mic . When i check list of microphones, the headphones is not listed. How do i use my earphones mic when connected to PC? ps. It works fine on my phone

Headphones Not Being Listed Seperately

Let me ask you;

• Do you receive any error message or codes?
• May I know the make and model of the computer?
• Have you checked the headphones on a different computer?
• Are you able to get sound from the speakers?

Please follow these instructions to resolve the issue:

Method 1:


Step 1: Ensure the headphone or microphone is fully and firmly inserted into the correct jack.

Step 2: Plug in the headphone or microphone and see if the same shows up in Control Panel.

Please follow the instruction

a) Right-click on sound icon in the taskbar and select “Recording Devices”. See if the Microphone is listed.
b) If not, right-click on the blank area and select “Show Disabled Devices”.
c) Right-click on your microphone and select “Enable ”.

Step 3: Check the volume property. Ensure that it’s not mute
.
Method 2: This may happen when you have the external speakers set to default.

Perform the task mentioned below to set headphones as default:


1. Press ‘Windows key + X’ key on the keyboard and then click on control panel and then
Hardware and sound option.

2. Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.

3. In the new windows click on the tab "Playback" and right click in the window and click on
Show Disabled devices.

4. Now check if headphones are listed there and right click on it and choose enable.

5. Highlight that headphones and click on "Set as Default".

Headphones, microphone issue.

The device is the default and I have updated the drivers. They say they are up to date. I'll answer your questions below.

• Are you getting any error message?
  • No error messages.
• When did the issue start? It started last month sometime.
  • It goes in and out of doing what I want it to.
• Were there any recent changes made prior to the issue?
  • No changes were made.
• Have you tried using a different headphone to isolate the issue?
  • Yes.
• What troubleshooting steps have you d so far?
  • I have tried updating drivers, setting defaults, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, changing headphones, turning off the microphone, changing the settings in Realtek Manager.

I've tried a lot of stuff without any luck. I'm not sure what the issue is.

 

Headphone audio works but microphone doesnt work.

Please reply to the following questions to get a better understanding on the issue:

• Are you able to use any other microphone on the computer?
  
• Are you able to use the headphones microphone on any other computer?
  

However, you can follow the troubleshooting steps from the article
Fix microphone problems.

Also, you can follow the steps mentioned below to check if the Microphone is disabled:

1. Go to Settings >> Sound.
   
2. Go to Check Input Devices >> Manage Sound Devices.
   
3. Under Input Devices check if the device is Disabled.
   
4. For Eg: You might see Stereo Mix.
   
5. Click on Stereo Mix and click on
   Enable.
   
6. Now, test the Microphone and check if you are able to record audio.
