  2. How Can I Remove or Hide the Network and Volume Icons on Taskbar?

To remove or hide the network and volume icons from the taskbar in Windows 10, you can follow these steps:

    1. Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar and select "Taskbar settings" from the context menu.
    2. In the "Taskbar settings" window, scroll down to the "Notification area" section.
    3. Under the "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" heading, you will see a list of icons that are currently displayed on the taskbar. To hide an icon, click on the toggle next to its name to turn it off.
    4. To remove an icon from the taskbar completely, click on the "Turn system icons on or off" link under the "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" heading.
    5. In the "Turn system icons on or off" window, you will see a list of system icons. To remove an icon, click on the toggle next to its name to turn it off.
    6. When you are finished hiding or removing icons, click on the "Apply" button to save your changes. The network and volume icons should now be hidden or removed from the taskbar.
Note that the steps above may vary depending on your version of Windows and the specific configuration of your computer. If you are unable to find the options described in these steps, you can try searching for "taskbar settings" in the Windows search bar or looking for the relevant settings in the Control Panel.

  3. volume mixer in taskbar in WIndows 10

    Hi Caroline,

The requirement of pinning Volume mixer to the taskbar is currently not available in Windows 10. However, you can view Volume mixer from the volume control icon located in the system tray.

Before we assist further, I would like to ask you a few questions:

    • Are you not able to see volume icon or the volume mixer on the computer?

    • If volume icon, have you enabled the option to show in the system tray?

If you want to view Volume mixer on the PC and have enabled volume icon on the system tray, follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

    • Right click on the volume icon and select
      Open Volume Mixer
      from the context menu.

    • Check if the window is accessible on the computer.

Note: The option to pin Volume mixer to the taskbar is not currently available on the computer.

Write to us with the status of pinning Volume mixer on taskbar in the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.

When I click on Clock, Volume, Network, etc on Taskbar nothing happens windows 10

Network and Volume Icons missing from Taskbar

On my son's computer, he recently told me that his volume icon disappeared and that he tried "everything" he could find on Google and couldn't get it back. So, tonight when i couldn't sleep, I came in to check out his Windows 10 machine and found that it wasn't just the volume icon, but the network icon is missing too. I went to the normal place to check them, TaskBar Settings > Turn System Icons on or off, and found that they are listed, but grayed out:
When I click on Clock, Volume, Network, etc on Taskbar nothing happens windows 10 346700d1632206013t-network-volume-icons-missing-taskbar-image.png
I tried all of the typical solutions that I found online 1). Try another user...problem persists with my account 2). Try "restarted" explorer with task manager. Problem persists 3). Try the following tutorial (System Icons - Enable or Disable | Tutorials) importing in these registry keys and restarting. Problem persists 4). Tried deleting the registry values per this post, How do I turn the system icon for sound on (currently off; greyed out). Problem persists 5). Ran an sfc /scannow 6). I followed this thread, which basically linked to the tutorial in step 3. Network missing from taskbar - grayed out in settings 7). Tried all of the options from this post, both registry edits as well as gpedit.msc. Fix: Volume Icon is Missing in Windows 10 Taskbar His system is running Windows 10, 20H2

His network works just fine and his audio is working as well. Device Manager is clean
When I click on Clock, Volume, Network, etc on Taskbar nothing happens windows 10 346696d1632205454t-network-volume-icons-missing-taskbar-image.png
The missing icons are NOT in the overflow tray area

I haven't reinstalled drivers, because I find it hard to believe that the audio driver and the network driver both got messed up. If it was just one of them missing, then I would have more faith that the problem lies. Also, he's up to date on his windows updates

anybody else run into this pesky issue where the typical solutions just aren't working at all?
