    When I Create An Environmental Variable In Advanced Settings Why Can I See It And Verify...


    I can see the file under my name in the Advanced System Settings>Environmental Variables and have verified the file path is correct, but the file doesn't appear at the end of the file path where it is supposed to be when I look in File Explorer. I have repeated the operation numerous times. I can see the file is in the window under my name in Advanced System Settings>Environmental VariablesIt does not appear at the end of the path that I have verified by hunt and peck slowly several timesYet when I go back to Advanced System Settings>Environmental Variables it is definitely created a

    Environmental variables different in CMD and Windows Explorer

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.



    It seems that when you query from command prompt it displays the Envronment variables from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment)



    The Set command is used to display the Environmental variables. The Paths displayed on the command prompt contains the Path for the program files, Common program files, User files, AppData along with the Path displayed in the Environmental Variables
    GUI.
