Windows 10: When I download .mov files from OneDrive why is the 'date taken' missing and why is the...

When downloading from OneDrive the 'date taken' or 'media created' date for .mov files is missing. In the folder listings on the OneDrive page I can see the date is in the file. I download 1 .mov file and it is changed to .mp4 when it arrives in my WIN11 Downloads folder. Also, the 'date taken/media created' is missing. I can download multiple .mov files and they are zipped up, which preserves them as .mov. There is no conversion, but the date I need is no longer there. I can upload an .mp4 file, then download it and the date I need is still there. The jpg and jpeg files still have the date,

MS Photos app view by Date Taken, but .mov don't have Date Taken attribute

I've been Googling this for hours but haven't come up with anything useful. I've just imported 1,190 files, mostly .jpgs, with 70 .mov

In MS Photos app, I can view by "Date Taken" or "Recently Added". None of the .mov files have a Date Taken attribute or value, so they all show up under today's date. But I want them peppered throughout the photos in chronological order (same as Date Modified attribute).

This is really frustrating. The only thing that looks vaguely useful is the ExifTool, but even that I'm having difficulty with (don't know what I'm doing).
I've gone to the command prompt and typed in: C:\Users\XXX\TEST>ExifTool “-DateTaken<ModifiedDate” *.mov

This seems like such a basic, common problem that's been recognised for years. Why don't "they'' just put in a date taken on .movs?? <rhetorical question>

I did see a suggestion online to tamper with my laptop's date/time and "save as" each file, but I'm not willing to do that for 70 .mov files

Any ideas of how to help me??? (with exiftool or not).

How to retrieve the date of picture taken for photos saved in a specific folder using DOS command ?

I understand that the DIR /T:W will list the date modified (or the date the file was written), and the command DIR /T:C will show the date created. However, the date created will reflect the date that the file was copied, which can be later than the date
modified.

Is there another option to retrieve the date taken ? DIR /T:T doesn't exist but perhaps there is another command.

Jpg Date Taken Not Shown

Gm, I got as far as "modify" on your list but my modify button was ghosted.

Here's another thing I noticed this morning. If I right click a jpeg, properties, then date taken is missing. But if I instead open a jpeg, go to menu, then file info, date taken is displayed (although I'm not sure the date taken is accurate).

Also on some of my photos if I right click, then properties, date taken is displayed. But on others, date taken is missing.
