  1. When I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects

I am running Windows 10 Home, version 10.0.19045 Build 19045. I've tried this with a number of different USB hard disk drives with different USB/HDD docking units.Up until a few days ago I had the following it's been like this for years: 1 Attach USB hard disk drive. 2 Drive spins up 3 Drive letter appears 4 Use the drive 5 Eject the drive 6 Motor turns off and light go out 7 Drive letter disappears 8 Hard drive stays that way 9 Disconnect USB cable to hard disk drive 10 Reconnect USB cable to hard disk drive 11 Now we're back at step 2.Now I get the following: 1 Attach USB hard disk drive.

    :)

    Hi Walden,

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with accessing Safely Remove and Eject Media USB icon on the taskbar.

To assist you better, please provide us the below information:

    • When you say that "not I can not get it to show up in bottom right lower", are you referring that you are not able to see the Eject USB icon under the show hidden icons?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to understand the system

    1. Click on Search bar.

    2. Then type "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

    3. Turn on Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media icon.

Reply to us with the information, so that we can assist you better.

Please get back to us with an update on issue, we will be happy to help.

Did not eject USB HDD before unplugging it...

The USB HDD was idle...it was not doing anything and I unplugged it without ejecting it..all of the files were closed and not accessed by any program...Could some files get corrupted ?

Another Question...If I have a file open on the USB HDD or if something is being written or read from the USB HDD and then I eject the disk, Will I get a "Safe to Remove Hardware" notification ?

I am asking because I didn't know if the USB HDD was in USE and then I ejected and I received a "Safe to Remove Hardware" notification..so I unplugged the USB HDD..Am I ok ? was the USB HDD active when I ejected it ?

  4. When I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects

Missing Eject in "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" List

I use to be able to eject my USB drive via "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" with list as below:

    - Open Devices and Printers
    - Eject Data Traveler 111
    - USB Drive (DWhen I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects :)
    - Eject My Passport Ultra
    - My Passport (EWhen I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects :)

However recently the "Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media" list seems corrupted and shows:

    - Open Devices and Printers
    - USB Drive (DWhen I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects :)

    - My Passport (EWhen I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects :)

with { - USB Drive (DWhen I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects :) } and { - My Passport (EWhen I eject my USB HDD, it ejects OK but then immediately reconnects :) } are grayed out.

Currently the only way for me is go to file explorer and right click the removable drive and click Eject.

    Please help!
