Hi,I've recently changed my first name. My current c:filepath on my 4-year-old Windows 10 is tied to my old first name, which I hate but I am tolerating for this computer only because it's old and all other instances of me changing my name in the system outside of my Outlook primary email but that's another story have worked well. I'm considering buying a new computer in the near future, which most likely will come pre-installed with Windows 11. When I do so, I want to have the file path be similar to my new name rather than my old one, but I also want to preserve all files from my old compu

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink When I eventually upgrade to Windows 11, how do I make sure my c: folder has a name change... ;)
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

    Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
    Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
    mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

    name changes??

If you desire a name change please do the following:

    • Ask yourself if you really need a name change.
    • Make sure you have a good reason.
    • Know what you want your new name to be before you request a name change.
    • Send Urlyin a PM containing a decent explanation of your reason as well as your desired name.
