E72 Space Bar with Function Key acts as Symbol

If my Function Key (bottom left) is pressed once or twice then the Space Bar has same effect as pressing the Symbol Key. So if you have Function pressed twice to enter a series of numbers you cannot put in a space without unsetting the Function Key first.
Does anyone know if you can fix this?

I now discover this only happens with Predictive Text turned off.

If Predictive Text is turned on then Symbol + Space Bar gives you a space.

Nokia support suggested Factory Reset - but this makes no difference.

When I press the Windows key, is there any way of having the default display be all the programs alphabetically sorted?

I can display that listing but I have to click on the 3rd icon on the left to do so. I would like to eliminate that step and always see the alphabetical list of programs and apps. I don't need to see the Start Programs as I almost never change this.
