Windows 10: When I open my computer, I have a microphone icon on the screen,

When I open my computer, I have a microphone icon on the opening screen, not in the tray. That is the screen where I am asked for my pin or password so that I can open my laptop. Why is it there?

Can't get microphone icon onto desktop

This issue could have occurred due to these reasons:

1. Incorrect Microphone settings.

2. Corrupt driver.

Method 1:

I suggest you to run Recording Audio troubleshooter which will find and fix common issue.

• Press Windows Logo keys from the keyboard.
• Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
• In the “Troubleshooting” Window, click on “View All” on the left pane.
• Click on “Recording Audio”.
• Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
• Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

Method 2:

Make sure that the microphone that you are using is not disabled and is set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:

• Right-click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
• Now, right-click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.
• Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the
  microphone is enabled.
• You may also check if the microphone that you are using is
  set as default.

Method 3:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to download and install latest audio driver from the computer manufacturer website and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to set microphone as default device and check.

• 
  Right click on the volume icon in the system tray and then click "Recording devices"
  
• 
  Right click on the blank space in the popped up window and then select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices".
  
• 
  Right click on Microphone and then click "Enable".
  
• 
  Highlight the microphone and then choose "Set as Default Device".
  
• 
  Click Apply and OK.
  

Step 2: Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled.

  Make sure that the Microphone is not disabled. Follow the steps given to check that:
  
• 
  Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.
  
•

And also update the audio drivers from the manufacturer web site and install.

No microphone icon or notebook icon on my Cortana

Make sure that the microphone that you are using is not disabled and is set as default in the computer. Follow these steps to check this:

a) Right click on the volume icon and select “Recording devices”.

b) Now, right click on an empty space and select, “Show disconnected devices” and “Show disabled devices”.

c) Select “Microphone” and click on “Properties” and make sure that the microphone is enabled.

d) You may also check if the microphone that you are using is set as default.

Step 2: Make sure that you have turned on 'Location' through Action Center. Firstly, click on Action Center icon at the right bottom corner of your screen and click 'Location' button so that it turns into a darker color than your accent
color. Then, go to Cortana and follow the onscreen instructions.
