Windows 10: When I open my laptop lid, the external monitor shuts off

Hi,I was looking few hours for the answer. There is literally none in the internet. Please keep in mind that I talk about Opening laptop.My settings are always to show external monitor. But when I open laptop lid, screen changes back to my laptop. I even tried windows settings but there are only settings for closing the lid... Please help.

I have a laptop monitor and an external monitor and set things up so the display is extended

On my old Windows 10 laptop, when I shut the lid of the laptop, all the windows on that screen would just move to external monitor. My new laptop (Asus) does not do this and the windows remain on the laptop screen (which would be fully shut).

How do I fix this?

I have a laptop, (Windows 10) with an external monitor. Whenever I close the laptop lid after powering up the computer the monitor goes dark. How can I power up, close the lid and keep the monitor live?

 

Why does my external monitor stop working when I close my lid?

I have an HP laptop running Windows 10. It is connected via USB C to an official HP docking station. I have 3 external monitors attached to the docking station via a combination of HDMI and DisplayPort. Everything was working fine until a week ago, when my middle monitor (DisplayPort) would only work when the laptop lid is open. If I shut the lid, the monitor goes black and then a few moments later it goes to sleep. I have tried to detect the monitor with the lid shut and it wont find it. When the lid is shut, there is a grayed out display, but I can do anything to it. I have rebooted he laptop, unplugged the displays, but no joy. Any other suggestions?
