Windows 10: When I open task manager it says my disc usage is at 100%.

Im running windows 8.1 Recently my computer is really super slow and it is always hanging or freezing. In task manager it says my disc usage is at 100%. When I try to end process on a few background processes, They are very hard to end the process. And they just keep popping up right after you close them. I ran Microsoft online scanner and besides taking over 2 hours to run the so called quick scanner, It says it found 2 and it deleted them. My comp was good for about an hour and now it even worse then it was before. Im hoping someone out there can help me find the problem

Task Manager indicates 99-100% disc usage

Hello,

I have an Asus Aspire laptop running 64bit Windows 10

I've noticed that at start up and intermitently during usage the pc slows down and most programs become unresponsive. The Task Manager indicates that the disc usage is at 99-100%. But as per the inserted image the values for the disc usageof active processes
doesnt add up to anywhere near 100%

Can anyone suggest a cause and solution?
