Windows 10: When I open the start menu, there is a bar that just goes up and down and repeats it.

The start menu, or whatever it's called when you press the windows key, it has a blue bar with sometimes a black outline and just goes up and down and repeats that over and over again. Here's a picture. In the picture there is a blue bar that just freaks out and goes up and comes back down. Any solutions?

Hi, tried as you suggest. It starts and says Checking application registration... and the green progress bar just goes on and on (let it run for over two hours) and never gets to the next step. Any other suggestions?

 

Windows 10 Pro start menu

Here's a workaround to add the program to your Start menu. Follow the steps below:

• Copy and paste the folder location below into the address bar of File Explorer. Press
  Enter to open the folder.
  • %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
• Add the shortcut of the program into this folder.
