Windows 10: When I open Virtual Box, Windows plays the "Hardware Disconnect" sound over and over.

This problem didn't start happening until I gave the guest OS access to the built-in fingerprint scanner on my computer.

Now whenever I start Virtual Box, it plays the sound mentioned above over and over for about a minute after closing Virtual Box. Another problem I have is Virtual Box crashes when I do anything with the virtual USB port, but that's probably not a problem with Windows. I hope you can help me with this problem.

connect/disconnect sounds

If the connect/disconnect sounds is only happening when playing an specific game, It might be a game app or a driver issue. we suggest that you try to uninstall and reinstall the game and check if the problem persists. Check the steps provided below:

• Open the Start menu.
• Click Settings.
• Click System on the Settings menu.
• Select Apps & features from the left pane. ...
• Select an app you wish to uninstall.
• Click the Uninstall button that appears.

Make sure also that your device software drivers are updated.

Unable to play sound in Windows 10

Let’s try below steps and check if it helps:

  Press (Windows + X) and select
  control panel
  
• 
  Click on the Sound icon.
  
• 
  Under play back devices, right click on an empty area and place a check mark on “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show disconnected Devices.
  
• 
  You will now see the disabled audio devices with the arrow pointing down on them.
  
• 
  Right click on each listed disabled audio device that you want to enable, click on
  Enable and set it as default.
  
• 
  Click OK to close the Sound window.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check the result.
  

If the issue persists you can try the below steps and check if it helps:

Check if any of the sound items in the device manager is disabled. If yes, then enable it. To do this, try these steps.

  Go to Device manager.
  
• 
  Expand Sound, video and game controllers’ item.
  
• 
  Right click the sub sound items and click
  enable.
  
• 
  Restart the computer and check the result.

Windows hardware disconnect sounds continually

Hi, I have Windows 10 running on a desktop PC. I continually get the Windows Hardware Disconnect sound. I am sure that something's up with my hardware - if I have Device Manager open, each time I get the sound, DM refreshes its screen, but I can't see
what it's complaining about - I can't narrow down what is being disconnected.
