Last point of note. I re-ran the UEFI on board diagnostics over night, all System tests, Exhaustive, this completed 15 time with no errors.

 

USB access denied on HP Elitebook, but not on an upgraded Dell Latitude E7240

Hi

Does your HP Elitebook have the HP Client Security installed? If yes then do the following:

• Oopen HP Client Security
• Disable the feature Device Access Manager with Just In Time Authentication or adjust it to your security needs.
• Try accessing your USB hard drive again.

USB boot for bios update

Did the first step. It already doesn't work. Note the capacities and drive letters M:/N: The HP utility is about to format my raid-1 volume containing my 2 750gb drives. It thinks it's the usb stick. I can not select any other drives in the HP utility. My 512mb usb stick is U:.

Any other suggestions?
