Windows 10: When i run composer on cmd,what happen is just blank so i have to retype and press enter...

Something strange just started to happen in file explorer

This is very strange and if anyone has any ideas why it is happening and how to fix it I would appreciate it very much.

It doesn't seem to be happening system wide, not a problem in my email program or as you can see on my desktop, only in file explorer. here are 2 screenshots one of a portion of my desktop and a portion of file explorer. As you can see all the tails in p's.y's etc. are cut off on file explorer but not on my desktop.

I've tried to follow your steps in this post but when I press win+s I don't get a cmd prompt. I get the following the top image below. some blue side wndow opens, however if I type in the search boc cmd I get the cmd prompt in the second image but I don't know if that is an elevated cmd prompt??? if it is a elevated cmd prompt I will continue and follow your steps.

Blank screen when entering BIOS, but Windows Boots fine on ASUS CH7

Hello,

I wanted to check the bios settings and I have suddenly found out, that when I press DEL to enter BIOS, the display is blank. Monitor is On, it has signal, but with blank black screen. Computer starts normally, beeps, displays the AMI initial screen and normally boots into Windows. If I press DEL however, instead of going to BIOS, I get blank screen.

Baseline:

• AMD Ryzen 2700X / ASUS Crosshair 7 WIFI
• BIOS 2008
• Windows 10 PRO 1809

Troubleshooting done:

• Monitor to any other display output (only this one is on, others are off)
• Different VGA
• BIOS reset - did not help, although it was reset. I got message that BIOS was reset, press F1 to enter bios, but then - the same issue.
• BIOS Flashback update - After pressing the button, it blinks 3 times, then turns on, which should be OK. BUt nothing is happening - the led on USB stick does not blink. Whan I interrupt, the PC works as before.
• EZ Update in Windows - after submitting to update the bios, it restarts, but then enters the BIOS, which is - blank. After restart, all works as before (with black BIOS)
• Entering BIOS from Windows (Shift-Restart) does have the same effect

I am out of ideas now - the PC works, just can't get into BIOS to change anything. Of course, now, I have the default settings loaded because of few BIOS resets.

Interesting is, that when in BIOS, I am getting 0d on the postcode - changes to this after entering the BIOS. In the manual, this value should be reserved for future AMI BIOS errors.

Any hints?

 

How to fix command prompt need to press enter twice to execute commands?

Hi,

I am having a problem with cmd, after the last 1803 update, using gdb (gnu debugger) with cmd is so annoying.

I need to press enter twice after typing any command when running gdb, (ex: type "step">press enter>on a new line first letter "s" appears>press enter again> command executes).

I have tried downloading and installing new version of gdb (8.1), same results, but when i run gdb through msys2 terminal it works fine with commands executing with one enter key press.

some one told me it maybe a problem with command prompt registry files. i don't really know how this could be fixed any suggestions to how to resoleve this? gdb used to run fine with windows 10! what happened?
