  2. Problems with Photos "Save a Frame"

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I know you're experiencing issues with the 'Save a frame' feature in the Photos app. This problem can occur due to several reasons such as faulty drivers, issues with the Photos app, or problems with the video file itself. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you could try:

    1. Update Video Drivers: Outdated or corrupted video drivers might be causing this issue. You might want to update your video drivers to the latest version. You can usually find the latest drivers on the manufacturer's website.
    2. Update the Photos App: Make sure your Photos app is up-to-date. You can do this by opening Microsoft Store, clicking on the three dots in the upper-right corner, selecting 'Downloads and updates', and then clicking 'Get updates'.
    3. Reset the Photos App: If the issue persists, you could try resetting the Photos app. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Microsoft Photos > Advanced options > Reset.
    4. Try a Different Software: If none of the above solutions work, it might be an issue with the Photos app itself. In this case, you could try using a different software to capture a frame from the video.
    5. Check the Video File: If the problem persists across different software, the issue might be with the video file itself. Try opening and capturing a frame from a different video file to see if the issue persists.

  3. Microsoft Photos App - Error when saving a photo while saving frames from a video

    Hi,

I'm trying to create photos from my videos using the Photos app but am encountering an error.

I open the video with the app, click Edit & Create -> Save Photos, then whenever I click on the 'Save Photo' option when viewing frame by frame, I'm given the same error: 'Something went wrong. Please try that again'.

I have tried this many times over a few weeks but it's still not working.

Any advice on how to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    James

Photos app - trim a video - error

Hello, I am trying to use the built-in Windows 10 Photos app to trim a video. I have the video playing in the Photos app and click "Trim Video" at the top. I move the sliders to select the start and end points. I click "Save a copy" at top-right. The app says "It looks as though you don't have permissions to save changes to this file. Try saving a copy instead." Having just clicked "Save a copy", I am confused as to why this error message is appearing. I've tried copying the .mp4 to my VIDEOS folder on C: drive with the same result. Some research has suggested to run the Photos app as Administrator, but I can't figure out how to do that. Any suggestions on how to trim a video would be appreciated! Thanks,
