When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user.

When I "sign in using Microsoft account", I get a new user with that Microsoft account. I don't want a new user, I just want to connect the current user to my Microsoft account. Any idea how to fix this?

  2. Microsoft Edge or anyother new apps

Every time to tab on Microsoft Edge I get a error telling me that "Microsoft Edge can't be opened using the Built-in Administrator account. Sign in with a different account and try again." What does this mean. If I try to make a new user account it will
    not let me.

Cannot sign in to Windows Store in Windows 10

I've searched the internet and all the Windows "support" sites with no solution. I tried all the "Create a new account" options but this did not work for me either. As a matter of fact, I can't sign in with any other account nor can I create another
account. I get the dreaded (and very informative) "Something went wrong" error with no error code or any other indication of what may be causing the problem. I was signed in when I had an issue downloading an app, so I signed out and attempted to sign back
in and it won't let me. All I get is the error mentioned above. When I try to create a new account or login using a different Microsoft Account from the Add a Microsoft Account link, I get "Something Went Wrong" and cannot proceed. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated.

    Hello, Brink!
It's been a long time since I haven't heard anything from you. The official release of Windows 10 is qutie stable. *Smile
That's what I'm trying to do. Switch to a Microsoft account. Now I'll post some pictures so you can see exactly how it happens.

This is how it looks initially:

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user. [IMG]

I go here and click on "Sign in with a Microsoft account".

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user. [IMG]

This appears. I enter my email and password and click "Sign in"

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user. [IMG]

After that it asks me to set a pin, and I skip.
Now this is how it looks:

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user. [IMG]

It created another user account instead of converting to a Microsoft account... :\
I already created (and then deleted in control panel) several users this way.

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user. [IMG]

I'm curious what the expert (Brink) has to say about this. Hope we'll fix this.
    Thank you.

The one that I created when I made my account is the first one (the not selected one, "lawle").
    %userprofile% takes me here: "C:\Users\lawle"
I know for sure that before I tried to log in to Microsoft, that was the only folder and only user (besides "Public" and "Default", which are something else).

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user.

The details show that you have two accounts. One using "lawle", and the last on listed using the name "lawle_z0s1dap" for your account.

You should be able to safely delete the other two profile folders, but I want to check you profile list to make sure it's safe.

Let's now export the registry key below for your users' profile list to see if shows any issues.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

The two users are the one that I created when I installed Windows (lawle) and the other one is the one that i created when I did my second post on this thread (the third post), where I explained exactly what happens. All the other users (that still have user folders, two of them) were deleted through control panel.

You can safely delete the other two "lawle_9k..." and "lawle_cb...". I noticed that Windows doesn't always delete the user profile folder of an account when you delete the account.

The user profile folders were named like that since you already had a "lawle" folder there. Windows just tacked that bit on the end to make it have a different name.

I figured why they were named like that. Because my email starts with "lawle", and I named my user specifically "lawle" for that reason, because when connecting to Microsoft account it does not change the user account. And during TP time frame it was not possible to name your user, and I got used to "lawle" in cmd and powershell.

But I can't think of any reason why it would create another user while trying to connect to a Microsoft account. Are you still with me on that? That's what I want to solve, and your help is appreciated. *Smile

    Thanks.

I'm not sure why it created a new profile, but would have to think it was because of the name of the exiting folder being the same as the name of the Microsoft account.

When I "sign in using microsoft account", I get a new user.

But I did that before (a few months ago) and it worked...
Anyway, can we do some more debugging to fix this issue? I still can't connect with a Microsoft account. If I connect, it creates another user instead of connecting.
