I tried everything i could find at the Microsoft site but none of them worked how it should. i wanted to get rid of a folder on my D drive becuase i didn`t make that there. Probably windows made it and now i can`t delete it no matter what and i annoys me cuz it`s now not oragnized how i want it to be. I am using an administrator account, but I simply can not delete the file. I've tried going in and changing the owner to either my account or Administrators, close it, change the Security permissions to allow me to have Full Control, and then I still can`t delete it or it seems it did nothi

  2. Trying to delete a folder but says need permission

    Hi Barry,

We need to determine why you are getting the error message "you require permission from VOSTRO470/barry to make changes to this file" when trying to delete a folder. With that said, we would be gathering additional information to have a better view on this
concern. Kindly answer the following questions:

    • Did you make any changes on the computer before you encountered this issue?
    • Aside from editing the permission via Command Prompt, what other troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    • Have you tried deleting other folders? If so, did you experience the same issue?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of the error message you are getting?
Note: Please do not include any personal information.
    • Is this the first time that you encountered this issue?

In the meantime, we suggest that you follow the instructions provided by
    Deepak_Krishnan R
    found on this
    thread
    .

Once completed, kindly provide us with the result for further assistance.

  3. Trying to delete a folder but says need permission

Following Deepaks thread, I found that there was a "Deny Everybody" or similar, which when removed allowed file deletion.

    Problem solved, thank you.

  4. when I try to delete some folders, an error message pops up saying "You require permission...

Unable to delete a particular folder. Error: "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder."

Windows Edition 10 Version 1809, OS build 18272.1000

After installing the latest creators update I have the following issue. When using Explorer to delete a folder that is not empty I always get this issue: "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder." It doesn't matter
if I just created it or not. I can remove the folder just fine using rmdir <folder> /s /q.

    Steps to reproduce the issue:

    1. Using explorer create the folder c:\users\rob\a\b\c.
    2. Using explorer try to delete folder c:\users\rob\a.
      1. It fails with "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder."
    3. Using explorer delete the folder c:\users\rob\a\b\c -works just fine
    4. Using explorer delete the folder c:\users\rob\a\b -works just fine
    5. Using explorer delete the folder c:\users\rob\a -works just fine.

This will also reproduce the issue

    1. mkdir c:\users\rob\a
    2. mkdir c:\users\rob\a\b
    3. mkdir c:\users\rob\a\b\c
    4. Using explorer try to delete folder c:\users\rob\a.
      1. It fails with "You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder."

This is a new behavior and is causing some build tools to fail.

    Thanks,

    Rob
