    When I try to set up the Authenticator App it wants me to create a new password.


    How can I set up the authenticator app without having to create a new password? First it gives me a two digit code to click on. Since the app is not set up I cant click on that code, so I have to try a different method and send a code to my mobile phone. Once I key in this code it wants me to set up a new password. I do not want to change my existing password so how can I set up the app without changing my password.Thanks.

    How can I create a new app password

    To create a new app password,
    this page     says:
    • Go to the
      Security basics       page and sign in to your Microsoft account.
    • Select More security options.
    • Under App passwords, select Create a new app password. A new app password is generated and appears on your screen.
    But I have found no 'App passwords' option/button in that page. Please help — how can I do this?

    2 step-authentication with app password not working

    Just to be clear, after enabling 2-step authentication on my account, Chronos Calendar was unable to sync (which was expected). I went to the web page to create an app password, did a copy of the code, went back to Chronos Calendar, paste the code in
    the password field. But I got the error that I can't get authenticated. I tried several times, removing the password, creating a new one, enter it manually or by copy/paste: same problem. So I removed the 2-step authentication and everything is now back to
    normal.
