    When I use RDP and my mouse's scroll wheel, Windows emits keyboard characters into the RDP...


    My host computer is Windows 10 Pro version 10.0.18363, and the remote is Windows 10 Pro version 10.0.19042


    I use RDP to work with these simultaneously, and both are on my home network.

    I have a Kensington Orbit Trackball with Scroll Ring. When I use the scroll ring in an RDP session, Windows emits "c" characters when I scroll clockwise, and "b" characters when I scroll counterclockwise. I've been baffled for weeks with extra characters showing up in my documents mysteriously, but the behavior is consistent.


    To be clear, this only occurs within the RDP session. Other applications on my host PC are not affected.

    Windows 10 mouse scroll wheel issue

    Hi,

    There can be numerous causes of the issue that you're having with your mouse scroll wheel speed such as outdated drivers, dirt, damaged cables, and more. To correct such issue, we suggest that you adjust the scroll speed of your mouse wheel using the steps
    below:

    • Click Start > Settings.
    • Go to Devices > Mouse & touchpad.
    • Under Choose how many lines to scroll each time, move the slider to the right to make the speed of your mouse wheel faster.

    With regard to cleaning the inside of your mouse, you have to contact its manufacturer to get proper instructions.

    RDP not working on MAC

    In order to keep things simple I suggest you start by using a Windows PC to connect to your RDP host.

    Remember also that the RDP host must run Windows Professional.

    Mouse Wheel Scroll Too Fast

    Hi,
    I have a Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse 2000, but, each time I slow the speed of the scrolling using the mouse wheel it works fine, until I reboot the PC. Then, on restarting the speed is super fast again (too fast to really control).
    Does anyone have any suggestions, please?
