    Why is the rotate option not working for raw photo files? It worked on my computer a few weeks ago. Now when I want to view my photos in a file the raw portrait photo shows normal at first. Then when I click on it to open it changes to horizontal. What can I do to fix this. I have thousands of pictures that I need to view to edit and I can not view them correctly.

    Viewing Olympus Raw photo files

    I am running windows 10 home, version 1803 and can't view my raw photos in Photo. I have tried to download the the codec but one doesn't appear to exist for W10. I want to be able to open my raw photos without going to my olympus view. How can this be
    done. This has been an ongoing frustration and with no answer. I have tried to reinstall Windows photo viewer, this too has been unsuccessful. Why is this so HARD! Please provide a useful response.

    If there is an 'APP' the enable viewing of RAW files this info would be helpful, however not the most efficient fix.

    Viewing Olympus Raw photo files

    Hi, Robyn,

    Go to Microsoft.com

    Type Camera Codec Pack into the Search Field

    Download the Pack for your system

    Save it to a folder on the computer

    Double click on the Folder to install the Codec Pack

    Double click the camera RAW file you want to view

    Windows Photo App will open for you to view the file.

    Photos App auto rotating portrait RAW files

    Lately whenever I open a raw file (CR2) in Photos it flips it from portrait to landscape and I can't flip it back. It I try to use the rotate feature, it says this can't be applied to RAW files. I've reset the app, uninstalled it etc and nothing works.

    Has anyone seen this?

    The Frustrating part is it initially recognises the photo as Portrait but then applies a preset and rotates the file. (Landscape images do not rotate)

    Current OS Windows 11 Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.434)

    Photos Version 2021.21120.8011.0

    Previously this was a problem here:

    Windows 10 (1809, build 17763.404)

    Photos version 2019.19021.18010.0
