    When in troubleshooting tab for activation my old pc name pops up instead of new pc name


    When i go into trouble shooting for windows activation it comes up with the name of my pc BEFORE i upgraded it and it still says windows 10 however now i am on windows 11 and am confused as to wether i follow the steps for the old named pc and try that because my current pc name does not show upit's important to note that my win

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.

    Keep us posted with the result.

    Deleting old pc name from network

    Many thanks, Sangeeta. Your suggestion worked.

    Have an additional problem. For some reason, our "HomeNetwork" lists one of our pc's twice - under 2 different names. Both pc names work, in that I can access the desired pc by "clicking" on either name. I'm ok with it, but I'd really like to get rid of
    one of the entries. Do you - or any colleagues - have a suggestion to help me do so?

    Thank you again, & hope you have yet another solution for me.

    Hi,

    To change the computer name, please follow these steps:

    • Click the Start button.
    • Type View advanced system
      settings       and press Enter.
    • Go to Computer Name tab.
    • Click Change.
    • Enter the new name.
    • Click OK to save the changes.
    • Restart your computer.
